Rosemary was Rockford Silver Company's Art Nouveau rose pattern, first produced in 1906. The design is of roses spilling along the handle. Rockford produced exclusively for sales through jewelry stores. I am always happy to combine shipping winning auctions in order to save on shipping costs. These pieces can be shipped to the 50 states and Puerto Rico for the minimum charge of $6.90, which includes the mandatory insurance and delivery confirmation. For any other destination, please email for a shipping quote. The salad set is an item of silver that has a curious history. Before WWI, a two piece set existed, but is relatively scarce. This set had long handles, the fork had narrow tines, and the spoon had a narrow bowl. The salad referred to was of a chicken salad type dish. Lettuce was served with a device called the lettuce fork, and what we think of as a salad was usually available only seasonally. After WWI, when silver services were simplified, and when iceberg lettuce became a year-round food, the silver companies began to offer a salad set. This consists of a variation on a berry shell and a serving fork, put together into a presentation box, and given as a gift. The salad serving spoon and fork offered each measure about 9". These are not pieces of new silver. These items show the patina of almost 100 years of careful use. T are the light scratches which constitute normal patina. T is no monogram on the fork, but the spoon has a K monogram. Silver is softly lustrous. The sefork has a heel dot, and the spoon has rest wear on the heel and on a couple of small spots in the bowl. T are a few tiny pits in the bowl of the spoon, the result of contact with vinegar. The heel of the fork is pierced and the sides of the outside tines are ornately decorated. The pattern is crisp and clear. I polish all silver before listing on eBay. Please email with any questions before bidding. PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE AUCTION DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY.
