Sculpted by Richard Baldwin using Norman Rockwell's artistic translation of the 12 Boy Scout Laws. I ssued in a limited mintage of 26,971 sets in 1972 after which the dies were destroyed. T he Franklin Mint and The Boy Scouts Of America vowed that this series would never be reproduced. Obverse shows Rockwell's depiction of Scout Law while reverse recants that Law. The Scout Law: 1.) A Scout is Trustworthy 7.) A Scout is Clean 2.) A Scout is Loyal 8.) A scout is Reverent 3.) A Scout is Helpful 9.) A Scout is Obedient 4.) A Scout is Friendly 10.) A Scout is Courteous 5.) A Scout is Brave 11.) A scout is Kind. 6.) A Scout is Thrifty 12.) Cheerful Many of these sets were melted, some were handled without gloves and others have medals missing. Each Proof 39mm (approx.1 1/2 inches) coin/medal has been edge stamped with the Mint seal stating its purity. The full set is 9.5 oz. Sterling or 0.8 troy oz. each. This may conflict with some sets being offered on ebay but is the only true and accurate weight for these medals as listed in the "Guidebook Of Franklin Mint Issues".
