Welcome to the auction of this Ultra Rare American Wild Posting T.V promotional poster that was used to promote the very first showing of ROCKY on a television network probably a year or so after ROCKY first hit the cinemas, so at a guess it was created around 1977. Wild posting is when posters are plastered around on subways and unused buildings to promote whatever, they would have only been displayed for a very short period of time, this makes them highly collectable and rarer than any of the usual one sheet movie posters. The print shows a wonderful full size portrait of Sylvester Stallone as Rocky Balboa in a pastel medium that is an amazing adaptation of the The World Famous Statue of David by Michelangelo!!! and in our oppinion is of gallery quality, we have included a picture of The Statue of David for comparison (please note this picture has no other relevance to this auction). In the bottom left hand corner t is also an image of ROCKY in the famous "arms raised" pose in front of the Philadelphia Museum of art. This lithographic print is a great example of how graphics were created before the days of desk top computers, all the artwork in this poster look hand produced from the portrait itself to the border and the signwritten text and vintage colors that you just don't see anymore, the poster measures an imposing 59x3
