One needs to imagine this next to one of the original, painted & currently $37, Minitank Scud Missile Launcher items; I was kind of thinking I'd redo this as a Libyan Scud; sand colored with vertical black wavy pattern with white missile. I updated this part; looked it up in old emails. I won this several years ago, through some fierce bidding. It came from a big diorama in Singapore that was dismantled. I won it on 10/14/08 for $51.00 from seller ghostdivision88. When I got it, the missile hole to put it on the launch pad was plugged with the broken off pin from the launch pad, which was missing. I emailed the guy and got no response. I did a little cussing, bought a $12.95 regular Scud, and I used the parts and painted the launch pad to match; that was a loss of my new, second Scud. It also now has a nice uniform flat sheen to the overall finish; the missile is removable. Look at this thing, wouldn't you do that? I then went over the item, picked out some details, and now it is perfect; see pics. I'm still in awe as to how nice the original builder constructed it from Minitank parts. It even has clear windows installed. Check the erection sequence photos. And yes, starting price is a little less than what I paid, plus I scrapped my other Scud, but I didn't care. Add this rare, beautiful, and unique piece to your collection. It occurred to me that to build this, some big Roco Transporter ($20-$25) (Elefant?) , two Scud Launchers ($26 total, one mine), and who knows what else, was used to build this. It even has undercarriage detail. I for one would not want to attempt this project without instructions, much less the work. Do the math on parts, painting and labor and reach the same conclusions that I did. I had a prospective bidder inquire about this item; it's not in the Roco catalog, it's custom built from Roco parts. I was going to list this two weeks ago and said it was way too neat to sell. Well here it is; even has an antenna and hand rails. I've collected Roco items since childhood (50 years) and this is absolutely the neatest one of a kind item to fit in your collection. I've seen an HO version made in Russia, but who's got $249 for one of those? There's a final photo added which shows the vehicle top. Note that there are two slots for the pegs on the launch tower to fit in to. Absolute perfection. On the bottom, ahead of the front wheels is the Roco emblem, DBGM, Made in Austria. Look at the closeup photos and see how nice the work is, it's really neat! I'm the world's pickiest guy and this item still amazes me. My association with Minitank goes back to about Xmas of 1961; got up that morning and under the tree, dad had put together an Athearn blue box train for me and my brother, and on the flatcar sat an M-47 and M-48. I've still got that M-47. If you're a hardcore Minitank fan, it just doesn't get any better than this. It all fits together perfectly, and opens to launch position perfectly; closes perfectly; wheels turn. Spend the next 5 years like I have, trying to figure how the builder did it. I've yet to figure it out. I have included a modest BIN price. If you're really interested in this item, which is obviously very popular, and you don't want to mess with competitive bidding, the difference in price might be for you. Make it yours, I'm just trying to pass it on to someone who likes it as much as I do. I'm willing to throw in my work, the loss of my scratched for parts Scud, & touch up of the custom paint job, but the start price will never be lower.
