Roman Gladius Sword with Brass Trimmed Leather Sheath The Roman Gladius is one of the most famous sword designs, wielded by one of the most formidable fighting forces known in history. This handcrafted version of this famous design is made with hardwood throughout the pommel, grip, and guard. The grip is painted black, while the pommel and guard are left a contrasting natural wood. The blade is a very simple and classic straight design ending in a sharp 'v'. Total length of this sword is 27 inches, and it has a 20 inch blade. The sheath is black leather over wood with beautiful brass fittings. Gladius and sheath are a little rough, but a good value for the money. Though beautiful to display, this is not a flimsy, display-only piece, but a sword that is solid enough for theatrical use and light contact reenactment. It's probably not strong enough for full contact live steel work, and in any case WE DO NOT ENDORSE ANY USE FOR THIS WEAPON. Blade is not shipped sharp, but may be sharpened. New, no problems.
