TITLE: ROMULUS AND REMUS ~ A Dog Story AUTHOR: Charles Remington Talbot PUBLICATION DATE: 1888 FORMAT: 218-page hardcover book with black and white illustrations CONDITION: Good. The greenish-brown decorative boards show wear and spine edge wrinkling; there is a red stain at the top extending down a couple of inches (see first picture). Binding is good at the front and with just a little "give" at the back. It looks as if the first blank page has been removed, and also some of the book advertisements at the back are missing - or at least the numbering would indicate that. Text block general clean with a few page smudges. Sewn binding is intact with no loose pages. There is some light age toning and a little foxing on the endpapers. This is an interesting story about two Gordon Setter dogs and the confusion over their ownership and the adventures the young people have in proving which dog belongs to who! It is extremely scarce and a great collectible for all dog lovers. Shipping is $3.00 media mail within the U.S.; international bidders, please enquire, owing to the high cost of international shipping.
