Please check out my 100% POSITIVE EBAY FEEDBACK and bid with complete confidence. (And please check out the other beautiful pots that I have on eBay.) You are bidding on a large lidded jar by widely collected Georgia potter Ron Meyers . (It was featured in a 2001 exhibition at the Clay Art Center in New York.) DESCRIPTION: In Ron Meyer's black and white work, an almost stark element of sophistication "colors" the wonderful whimsy of his inspired creatures- both human and animal. The result is a most compelling work of art. On the bottom portion of this magnificent lidded jar, cats and birds and frogs and one alluring human ingenue flow in and out of one another. And yet as they meet and meld and blend, the eyes, teeth, beaks, whiskers and feathers of the various entities maintain their "separateness"; their identities remain distinct despite the overlapping "chaos". The sides of the lid features black circular decorations against a creamy off- white background. The top of the lid is white sgrafitto against a black background with a raised contour at its center. The lidded jar stands 10" tall and measures 6" at its widest. It is in mint condition- no chips, cracks or repairs. This is a no reserve auction. ABOUT RON MEYERS: As with the work of his former studio mate Michael Simon, the pottery of Ron Meyers rarely stays available for sale for very long. Working with red earthenware, Ron's functional pots are made in a casual and spontaneous manner reflecting the juiciness of the material as well as the pleasure of the process. His narrative, colored slip paintings that float on the surface in a gestural expressionistic style can be both provocative and confrontational. Ron Meyers holds B.S. (1956) and M.S. (1961) degrees in art education from State University of New York College at Buffalo . He taught at the University of South Carolina , Columbia , SC from 1967-1972. He then spent the next 20 years teaching at the University of Georgia in Athens w he retired as Professor Emeritus . He has traveled and taught extensively, and each passing year finds his pots in ever greater demand among a steadily widening group of appreciate collectors. Winning bidder pays $20 for insured USPS priority shipping and handling. (International shipping charge is $50.) Payment is due within seven days of the end of the auction. I accept Paypal, money orders, and personal checks (but please allow ample time for personal checks to clear.) International winners must use Paypal. THANKS for looking and GOOD LUCK.
