Handsome blue and white checkered racing silk and pants belonged to one of the most accomplished jockeys in racing history. In 1973, the gracious and humble Ron Turcotte, winner of over 3,000 lifetime races, won the most coveted prize a jockey can win - the Triple Crown. He became the first jockey in 70 years to win back-to-back Kentucky Derbys and the only jockey ever to win 5 of 6 consecutive Triple Crown races. Of course, he had the help of the greatest thoroughbred of all time, Secretariat. This amazing horse, who set new track records at the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness, and new world records at Belmont and the Marlboro Cup, made history yet again in 1973. Offered is the racing outfit worn by Turcotte while racing Secretariat in 1973. It is identified in the collar with the white embroidered, "Ron Turcotte". While it is impossible to know which race he wore this silk for (back in 1973 it wasn't deemed important enough to note which race), it is certain that he wore it in 1973 aboard the legendary Triple Crown winning horse, Secretariat. Matching pants are also identified by blue embroidered "Turcotte" on the outside of the back waistband. "Custom Jockey's Apparel" tag on the inside waistband.
