A wonderfully simple and tender portrayal of a "Mother and Child", this Rookwood figurine/statuette was produced at the end of the Great Depression, in the year 1939. It stands 7-3/8 inches tall and is finished in a brilliant, high gloss, transparent, medium to light blue glaze with an overall factory produced crazing effect. It is free of chips, cracks, scratches, or repairs. The glaze is heavier and darker in low areas of the piece and lighter and thinner at the high points, all to accentuate the white porcelain beneath. A great example of a late Art Deco, and it is Rookwood. PAYPAL please. On the photo of the base, the black line next to the label is a superficial "crack" in the glaze that appears to be melted into the glaze. A production flaw during cooling, no dought - not damage. Under magnification there are no hairlines associated with it. It appears to partly contain the adhesive residue from the original(?) label.
