Offered for auction sale is a wonderful vintage, 9 1/4" Tall Vase with Vellum Glaze , made in Cincinnati Ohio by Elizabeth Lincoln at Rookwood Pottery in 1919 . This tall and gracefully shaped vase is designed with a fantastic and bold drip glaze pattern which blends purples, blues, greens, and yellows onto an aqua background, all beneath Rookwood's magnificent Vellum glaze. In addition, it has layers of hand carvings all around in arched, garland-like arrangements. The purple and aqua pattern descending from the top continues across the rim and 1/2" down into the interior. A greenish blue interior circular pattern shows that this is a hand-turned pottery piece. This impressive vase is 9 1/4" tall, and almost 4 1/2" across at its widest shoulder width. It has a slender 2 3/8" base diameter, and tapers to a 2 3/8" top rim diameter. It is very steady with no tilt or wobbble. It is fully marked on its underside with a die-incised double "R" and full flame insignia, " XIX " for the year 1919 , shape number 295D , " V" for Vellum glaze, and hand carved " LNL ", for Elizabeth (Lizzie) Neave Lincoln . This vase is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, or repairs. It has a few pinpoint dots from the kiln.SEE ALL PHOTOS AND ENLARGEMENTS BELOW.
