Up for bid is an extremely rare variation of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad's popular "Centenary" china pattern. The B&O considered alternative colors to the standard blue, and requested samples from several manufacturers. This example is Shenango China Incaware as indicated by the backstamp. There is also a marking of "38-C-2", which possibly indicates a 1938 date code? The color is a rose hue , on a bone background (use the picture with the Coke can to compare). All transfers are crisp and clear with no runs or sags. Absolutely no cracks, chips, nicks or scratches. Plate size is standard 9" diameter. The Railroadiana Online website has an excellent article written by noted B&O china expert Mr. Rob Hoffer. (From main Railroadiana Online page, under "Railroadiana Types" The article includes photos of this and other color variations. This is a dead mint example of a true rarity, and seldom offered on the open market. Please examine pictures carefully, and ask any questions as soon as possible since I am usually not available on weekends.
