Recently purchased at an Estate sale, I am offering for bid a magnificent ROSENTHAL porcelain bird (circa 1936) which is perched atop beautiful light green porcelain leaves. In the center front on the base, the name of F. HEIDENREICH is inscribed. The colors are a blend of gray, with a patch of pink on the back wings and blue on the sides of each wing. The eyes are blue, and the head is speckled with colors of gray. The beak is a dark gray. In my research, I learned from someone who studies species of birds that this is a large figurine which may resemble a Bluejay, but that is questionable. This person was not sure this figurine was related to any specific type of bird, but thought it was truly beautiful no matter what species it may (or may not) belong to. The weight is 2 1/2 lbs. The height is 12". The circumference measures approximately 8" across the back. This beautiful bird is approximately 70 years old. T appears to be a minor chip at the tip of the top and bottom of the beak, as it feels slightly chipped as I run my finger over the area, but I'm not sure if this is the way it's made or if, in fact, it's a true small chip on each part of the beak. Othewise, the condition is excellent, with no "other" chips felt, and no cracks, breaks, scratches or crazing seen.Truly beautiful!Enjoy!Good luck and happy bidding! HAPPY NEW read more
