Offered for auction sale is a wonderfully styled, molded, and decorated High Handled Basket Vase, Bittersweet pattern , green color, made in Zanesville Ohio by Roseville Pottery in 1951. It is Roseville # 809-8". This shapely handled basket vase has a very crisp mold with an attractive background of blended greens, smoother around its mid-section and nubby along the top and bottom rims. Above the background is a relief molded leaf, berry, and twig designed pattern. The pattern on one side mirrors the pattern on the opposite side. A fantastic feature is a realistic, textured, branch-like tall handle, which remains in original unbroken condition. The upper rim flares slightly outward and has a lovely curved and arched shape. This vase has a soft satiny glaze luster. The shape and coloring of this basket vase gives this piece a distinct Mid-Century Modern appearance. This basket vase is a substantial 8 1/2" tall to the tip of its handle. It is 7" at its widest, and sits on a 2 1/2" diameter slightly footed base. Its top rim opening is 5 3/8" long and 4" deep. This entire piece is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, hairlines, or repairs. T is a slight underglaze crazing on the inside, and a rust-like mineral stain at two spots on the inside bottom ring and on inside opposite sides along the water line. These are shown in
