Mid 1800's inlaid rosewood box in fine condition. Measures approximately 11" x 8" x 4 ½". Unspoilt patina with very attractive grain and a good b alan ce of dark and golden tones. Inlaid Mother of Pearl cartouche with matching escutcheon and pierced Mother of Pearl roundels and pewter bands to the top and front. ALL inlays original and complete. T are two pieces of replaced veneer on the back corner and right side, both done well to blend with the surrounding veneer. Top closes square. All edges keen. Original; brass hinges and lock with a period bow ended working key supplied. Neatly relined with a good quality marble effect paper. A nice example of a style of box that was popular from the 1830's through to the end of the century and slightly into the 1900's. Whilst I will continue to portray items in a comprehensive manner I will not succumb to threats of negative feedback on the basis of the item not being to the buyers liking even though accurately portrayed.
