VEDUTA---FONTESPIZIO DELLE ANATICHITA ROMANE , Plate number T1, engraved and drawn by Luigi Rossini.(1790-1857) This print is from the book Le Antichita Romane, ossia raccolta delle piu interesnti vedute di Roma Antica . There were 101 plates in the book. Le Antichita Romane . Luigi Rossini was born in Ravenna, Italy and studied at the Academy of Bologna graduating in 1813 as an architect and artist. Page size is very large being 29 1/4 inches x 20 3/4 inches, plate mark is 26 3/4 inches x 16 3/4 inches. This is an original copper line etching. On the lower right corner of the plate is engraved "T1 Roma 1823" On the lower left corner of the Plate "Rossini des & inc". The title is engraved in the bottom center of the plate. This is an antique print actually from the book. NOT a modern copy. PUBLISHED C1823. For an antique print, it is in remarkably great conditon. Not often found and you will see, there are not many original antique Rossini prints for sale on the internet. Excellent for your office wall. Neat to see the actual life of times in Roma in the 1820 period. Rare and getting rarer. If you go to Rome you can actually to the AREA shown here without the destruction as it is still standing and you can place yourself where the Romans of the picture are standing.Hard to imagine Rome with the Forum in such a state of destruction. read more
