Direct from Simojovel, Chiapas, a rough, green amber gemstone. This is a top quality display piece! The surface is still partially covered with fossilized sea-shells that are nearly as old as the resin itself. In a sense, this is not one fossil, but many wrapped up in a beautiful package. The interior looks to be fracture-free, and rich green color can be observed when the piece is dampened. Total weight is 230.3 gra ms. This is a truly special and one of a kind piece that would make a very nice addition to any collection. Please have a look and the photos and feel free to ask questions. The amber is between 22-26 million years old, dating from the Miocene to Oligocene Epochs, and is derived from the Hymenaea tree - the same responsible for the amber deposits in the Dominican Republic. However, unlike Dominican amber, Mexican amber is slightly harder and exhibits a richer range of color. Please note, we are currently in Mexico, not in Kentucky as stated in the auction.
