For sale is a scarce and desireable "boiler-room", railroad, or ships spring driven wall clock made by The Chelsea Clock Company. The works are marked Chelsea Clock Co. Boston USA. Everything appears to be original. The cylindrical case is solid brass or bronze and weighs 10 pounds. Measures 10.25 inches across the bezel. It is almost 3.75 inches thick with the bezel on. The bezel removes with a "twist-and-pull" motion and is not hinged. The works have a very large mainspring and look like a pocket watch in terms of the balance wheel and escapement. Appears to be some jewels in the escapement portion w the balance wheel is. The face is also brass or bronze and has the number 158173 on it. The works also has the number 9997 on it. The picture makes the face look like it has two dark areas on it, but it does not. This is just a reflection. The face is smooth and shiny and in great condition. The clock runs but has not been cleaned in many years. Age unknown. I do not know how long this clock would run on a single winding, but I would guess at least one week, based on the large size of the mainspring housing. The outer case has some dings in it, but those can only be seen if you look at the sides of it. The bezel is in great shape and has the original glass in it. This is a very nice clock made by a maker that is famous for their quality read more
