We have a Beautiful Salt-glaze Stoneware Crock from the Rowe Pottery Company. This is one of the Historical Collection dated 1999. Perfect Condition with the Original Lid. Measures 9 1/4" high including lid x 8 3/4" Diameter Each year Rowe Pottery Works produces a Limited Edition Historical Collection. All pieces are handthrown on a potter's wheel, and decorations are handbrushed in deep cobalt blue. A salt glaze firing characterizes this grouping. Salt glaze is created when common rock salt is thrown into a 2000 degree kiln. The salt vaporizes and leaves the product with a warm, glossy protective coating. Actual flames from burners lick the pots and cause color flashings. The 19th century process is being reproduced today in the historical Wisconsin Village of Cambridge. **************** BID WITH CONFIDENCE We do estates, close-outs, clean-outs & buy-outs As most of the items sold in our auction are vintage, pre-owned and some pieces will show signs of use.
