Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone - 1st Hardback UK Edition/Impression Bound in Full Morocco Rowling, J. K. Book Description: Bloomsbury, London, 1997. Full Morocco. Book Condition: Fine. No Jacket. First Edition. 8vo - 7 3/4 Inches. A sumptuous copy of the genuine UK 1st edition hardback rebound in fine full morocco. The only distinction between the first impression paperback and hardback editions is the binding. To distinguish this copy as one of the original hardback copies, the spine and original covers have been bound in at the rear, removed from the laminate, showing the original price as '£10.99' which was the hardback price. Finely bound in deep burgundy crushed morocco the spine has raised bands and gilt spine titles. All edges gilt and inner gilt dentelles. The list of items for Harry to buy in Diagon Alley on page 53 has the word 'wand' at both ends of the list - a key issue point for the true impression. The page block is a trifle yellowed as always, and has been trimmed slightly to enable the gilt edging. 223, (1) pages. A very impressive and presentable copy and offered at a fraction of the cost of a copy retaining the original laminate boards. Please note this copy had no ex-library markings or other inscriptions.
