The success of Royal Albert, with it's important Royal association, dates back to the late 1800s. In 1896, Thomas Wild took over the Albert Works near Stoke-on-Trent - the factory haven been given its name the year before to commemorate the birth of Prince Albert. In 1897, Thomas Wild & Co produced a range of commemorative pieces for Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, an association with royalty that continues to this day and which led to the name of Royal Albert. The Royal Albert Old Country Roses dinnerware pattern was designed by Harold Holdcroft and launched in 1962. It truely captures the essence of the summer in the English countryside, taking both rich and soft colours, combined with lush deep red roses, the warmth of teas roses alongside the delicacy of blush pink, softened by a wash of dark green foliage. read more
