Description: Set of Twelve Royal Selb Bavarian Hutschenreuther Porcelain Plates, each plate with a white center is rimmed by an inner wide raised gilt vine border, a smaller linear conforming border on either side. The green background has wonderful gilt filigree repeating pattern.. The bottom stamp is a green "Royal Bavarian" crowned lion "china" mark "Hutschenreuther Selb Bavaria. From 1887 to 1902, a lion or shield marking was the stamp seen on the bottom of pieces. Also a wide shield with “EDGERTON” dating around 1900’s. They are 10.5” diameter and ELEVEN plates are in very good condition. One has a chip off the BOTTOM edge(1/4" OFF gold rim wrapping to bottom 5/16" X 1/4" then a crack 2" seen only on the bottom not the green & gold on top . There are a few from small to tiny dark spots on the gilt rims. The worst plate is in the above 1st picture. The color of green is more like the 1st picture. There are other minor specks comisurrant with their age. But then your guests don’t carry a magnifying glass with them! These were originally purchased at Gumps in San Francisco because the felt between the plates has the Gumps stamp. Then my Mother-in-Law got them at Butterfield auctions in the late 1970’s or early 80’s here in San Francisco. I have used these plates no more than 2 times since then.
