A simply stunning piece of Bavarian porcelain Tomato Water Pitcher from Royal Bayreuth offered as found with minor damage Welcome to Simpler Times Antiques! Here for your enjoyment and consideration today we're pleased to offer this antique porcelain water or juice pitcher from the Tomato Ware line by Royal Bayreuth. Our pitcher stands about 6" tall and measures about 8" across handle and spout. The bottom mark seems to date its production to some time around the turn of the Twentieth Century. Production would have been at the Royally Privileged Porcelain Factory of Tettau, Bavaria. This is a stunning piece of porcelain, but alas the past hundred or so years have inflicted a few insults upon it. There is damage at the rim, some old and some not so old. In the detail photos you'll see it all pointed out by red arrows. The older chips seem to have undergone some attempt at concealment by applying green color to mask them. The two newer ones have no such treatment, but we actually have the missing fragments making it possible to repair them. Otherwise we found no chips or cracks. The glaze is free from crazing. There is no hard water film or other staining present. The porcelain is nicely translucent when held to a light, a sign of quality.
