Up for auction is this Royal Canadian Mounted Police ( RCMP ) Horse and Rider Figure on a Wood Base. It is made of some sort of heavy white metal. The horse and rider ( excluding lance with flag ) measure 3 1/4" X 3 1/4" X 1 1/4" and weighs 203 grams or 7 ounces. The wood base measures 4" X 2" X 5/8". This is a finely crafted piece of metalwork ( probably cast ) and the attention to detail is superb. Overall condition is excellent with a little light rust on the lance pole which is not made of the same metal as the rest of the figure. The horse and rider are from the famed RCMP Musical Ride which is depicted on the reverse of the 1973 Canadian 25 cent coin ( see picture ). T is also a striking resemblance between the horse and rider figure on the wood base and that which appears on the reverse of the coin. I am not sure of the age of this piece, however, it could have been made in 1973 as part of the 100th Year Centennial of the RCMP. I am also including the 1973 Canadian coin in the auction.
