According to the official Royal Copenhagen website, the manufacturer's stamped logo on the back of this piece indicates that it was made between 1889 and 1923. It also shows the painter's number. The antique store w it was purchased labeled it "Hydrangea Bowl." I have not found anything else about this rare piece on the internet, and if any ebay collector has any information about it, please let me know so that I can add it to this description. The lovely hydrangea flowers featured on this porcelain piece are done in very soft pastel tones of blue-grey and subtle pink. It measures about 5" in diameter, but the shape is sculptured and not evenly rounded (please see pictures). I am not sure if it had a lid at one time or not; it is hard to tell since the opening on top is finished with a sculptured edge as well. The bowl is in very good condition, with no flaws that I can find, no chips, nicks, cracks, crazing or discoloration. T is one pinpoint size dark dot on the edge of the top opening, under the glaze. I don't know if this would be considered a manufacturing defect, since it is so tiny (see picture). This bowl could be proudly displayed and enjoyed, with flowers or perhaps mints inside, or standing alone in all its beauty.
