Royal Copenhagen Porcelain 'Greenland' Figurine This is a very fine Royal Copenhagen porcelain overglaze figurine, Greenland. A beautiful girl, she has an enchanting face with rosy cheeks, is wearing an outstanding costume with fabulous color and detail, and in each hand she holds a posy of fresh flowers. Measuring just under 6" tall, she is larger than most of the figures in this series and is in perfect condition with no chips, no repairs. This special girl is a beauty to display! ~The series is one of Danish National Costume figurines created by Carl Martin-Hansen and produced in the period 1906-1925 for the Royal Copenhagen Porcelain Manufactory. Created as a monument to Danish folk culture, these figures are authentic portraits of the people who actually wore the costumes. The overglaze technique is very involved requiring many firings, thousands of brush strokes, and a multitude of colors.
