This is a wonderful and rare example of movie theater history, the concession stand hanging advertising sign. This most pristine example is from The Ohio Advertising Display Co. for Royal Crown Cola and is lighted and spins via the SYNCHROTRON motor in the bottom of the 'bucket'. It is light, almost baby, blue painted steel with four (4) translucent plastic panels of different depictions. One is the Royal Crown Cola name and logo, one is a multi-colored spelling of CANDY with what appear to be gumdrops, one is a transferred picture of golden buttered popcorn with the word POPCORN spelled out in bright red, the fourth panel depicts a bubbling cup of RC cola with a grid/star pattern with the words ICE COLD in the same light blue as the surrounding steel. The lamp is hung by a brass ring with the original 5' white cord coming through the center. All parts from the light bulb (working), to the masking tape securing the SYNCHROTRON wiring are original and without repair. The only sign of age comes from a small number of millimeter sized rust pocks along the top flange. Otherwise the lamp is in near mint shape and almost without any wear. All parts are solid and working, although the SYNCHROTRON could use a little TLC it does turn. This rare piece of movie theater history deserves to be out the storage it has been in since the early 60's, please help me give it a good home!
The lamp is @ 9" on each side at the top and is 12" tall to the top of the brass ring, it weighs @ 2.6 pounds. Please don't hesitate to ask any question about the lamp, and thank you for your time (and bid)!
