ROYAL DANISH Sterling Silver Oval Vegetable Bowl Trophy This large and heavy Sterling Silver serving bowl was made by International in their 1939 Royal Danish pattern. This bowl was used as a trophy for the Pin Oak Stables Championship Horse Show of 1959. The engraving in the bottom of the bowl could be removed by a silversmith or jeweler if you desired. I find the history very interesting. is a little history from the Pin Oak web site: The show debuted in Houston on May 26, 1945 at J.S. Abercrombie's Pin Oak Stables with the proceeds given to charity. In very short order this annual event became THE social event of the season. At one point when hosted at the original stables in Bellaire, tickets for Pin Oak were harder to come by than Kentucky Derby tickets. Since its founding in 1945, Pin Oak has grown to become the oldest and most prestigious horse show in the Southwest. It is one of the only horse shows in the nation that features not only hunters and jumpers, but also registered breeds and various equestrian disciplines including both riding and driving. Some of the breeds you'll see include: American Saddlebreds, Andalusians, Hackneys, Welsh ponies and Roadster horses and ponies. The focus of the show has always been children. From inception, the mission has been to stage a world class horse show as a venue to raise funds for children's charities. The Royal Danish bowl measures 12 1/8" long handle to handle and is 7 3/4" wide. It stands 1 3/4" tall. The weight of this bowl is 1 lb 5 oz on my postal scale (weighs in 1/8 oz increments). All items shipped USPS Priority mail unless specified otherwise. The bowl is in great condition with no dents, dings or deep scratches.
