This offering of Royal Doulton Fine Bone Canton China contains 8 place settings (Dinner Plate, Salad Plate, Bread & Butter Plate, Tea Cup and Saucer (Footed), plus 8 Luncheon Plates, 8 Rimmed Soup Bowls, 8 Demitasse Coffee Cups and Saucers (Flat), large and small Oval Serving Platters, an Oval Vegetable Bowl and an Oval Covered Vegetable Bowl. [ For total completeness one might want a Sugar and Creamer to add in. ] Every piece is in excellent condition - no chips, no scratches, no cracks, no marks, in fact most pieces have never been used and those that have less than 3 times - essentially no evidence of wear. Canton is a beautiful understated oriental theme in warm pastel colorings that readily graces a tabletop. So w does this set come from and why is it now available? The story.. these pieces have been in storage over 30 years. They were a wedding gift that hubby wanted but which wife never really liked. So they were put away until the daughters married at which time the set was offered to each in turn. None wanted them so now they are being offered publicly. Obviously this is a discontinued Royal Doulton pattern. You can find miscellaneous pieces at various Internet sites but you won't find a complete set like this.
