A Royal Doulton large bowl in 'A Midsummer Nights Dream' pattern. Glazed, transfer-decorated porcelain. Approximate dimensions in inches: 5 height x 10 1/2 greatest diameter of rim x 5 1/4 greatest diameter of footrim. Marked in underglaze black on bottom with pattern name over Royal Doulton backstamp over 'D2874' over '5' (see photo). The eight sides of the bowl exterior are decorated with portraits of the characters Bottom and Snout alternating with landscape panels. The interior is decorated with a wide band near the rim depicting a continuous landscape. The pattern was produced from about 1910 to the late 1920s. This bowl dates to circa 1925. General Condition: I can find no cracks or repairs. This piece has a few minor manufacturing flaws - including a pinpoint frit and a small gap in decoration on one of the landscape panels. The glaze has allover light crackling and t are a few random areas of light discoloration. One small (3/4 inch) abrasion to the glaze on bowl interior (see last photo). The bowl is in overall very good condition. Shipping: U.S.A. buyers pay for shipping via USPS Priority Mail with delivery confirmation.
