"Captain Cook", a limited edition whiskey "decanter", is a classic Royal Doulton Character Jug that was issued only for one year, 1985, limited to an edition of just 2000 pieces, with the number 25 handwritten on the backstamp. Issued the Third of a Series of The International Collection, with special permission from JAMES B. BEAM DISTILLING INTERNATIONAL CO. , " Captain Cook" has been discontinued for over 20 years, making this a chance to own a truly rare character jug/"decanter". "Captain Cook" is a beautifully sculpted character with a height of 5" and a capacity of 200ml (see backstamp photo). I believe it was sold in England with Jim Beam whiskey in it, but never in the US due to export regulations. The jug is wonderfully detailed with excellent hand painting. Captain Cooks' face shows great determination and detail with his black hat, black and white suit, and his grey hair pulled back into a pony tail (see photos). The handle is a white scroll with "New Zealand, Australia, and Canada" written on it. The detail is just incredible! "Captain Cook" carries a special backstamp, showing The International Collection being specially commissioned from Royal Doulton with permission by Jim Beam. This is another way this piece is unique - adding to it's value. "Captain Cook" has been locked behind glass and is in perfect condition
