Vintage Bone China For Your Royal Doulton Toby Mug Collection Details Description: A nice vintage porcelain or bone china character Toby mug of a man's head. The man is wearing a green colored pointy hat (a spout) and green colored jacket. The white collar of his shirt is showing above the jacket. His hair is gray and his face is colored in flesh tone with red lips and black pupils in his eyes and brown eye brows. The mug has a handle and has the word Parson Brown in raised lettering near the base. Please view photos as they are part and parcel of our description.Additional Information: The song goes: "In the meadow we can build a snowman, then pretend that he is Parson Brown. He'll say 'Are You Married?' We'll say 'No man, but you can do the job when you're in town!" In the period when this song was written, parsons (now known as Protestant ministers) often traveled among small rural towns to perform wedding ceremonies for denominational followers who did not have a local minister of their own faith. Date: Mid to late 1900s. Origin: England. Size: It is ~3 1/4" high, with the base being by 2 3/8" by 2 3/8" and 4" at its widest including the handle and spout. Maker: Royal Doulton Marks: Has the Royal Doulton mark and i has the characters 14 and V stamped in green on the base.
