The first female employee at the Lambeth factory was Hannah B. Barlow (employed 1871-1913). Her work consisted of a variety of items, usually displaying some sort of animal, bird or creature of nature. She had a mini zoo in her home and so enjoyed her "pets". As Hannah kept track of her designs, this was her #754, as shown on the bottom.Artists are also shown on the bottom: EM= Emily Mayne and ES = Emma Shute. There is a C which could be Lilian Curtis, who was listed as a Senior Assistant in the 1882 ledger. The date of manufacture, 1877, is impressed inside the larger logo and also beneath the smaller logo. The sgraffito technique of the deer, from buck to mamas to offspring (incised in the ceramic) is absolutely amazing. It has been said that Hannah never made a mistake in creating her figures!Above the whitish design and below the 2nd cobalt band from the top, the "stiching" is made to look like it is leather in the form of green fans sewn together This ewer is 10" high and 5" across the widest area. No cracks, chips or repairs. Our collection of RD numbered over 1000 items. Widowhood (& old age) forces sale. Hence, I am listing in both auction and in my eBay store (where browsing's FREE!). I am liquidating the many vases, figurines, mugs, etc. I do NOT charge for handling or materials. Nor will I falsify a customs form or pay read more
