ROYAL DOULTON PHANTOM of the OPERA Beginning in the mid 60's, Mother became an avid collector of Royal Doulton. She amassed a pretty impressive collection of approximately 200 pieces to include figurines and the bulk in Toby Jugs. Along the way she became quite the Royal Doulton expert! One of her most loved was the "Phantom". We were lucky enough to see the play on Broadway during the second week of opening with Sarah Brightman & Michael Crawford and it was magical! Naturally, when the Jug was finally introduced we purchased it for her as a Christmas present. Having been greatly loved and then packed away for the last 9 years he is in MINT condition, the pictures speak for themselves, this is a magnificent piece....and is now looking forward to a new home...hopefully joining some other Royal Doulton friends! The Phantom is one of Doulton's most substantial pieces.. weighing in at a hefty 3.3 pounds , standing 7.75", base width 4.75" x 7" Marked on the bottom: D 7017, Modelled by David B Biggs, #686 of 2,500, see photo #6 I continue to empty cupboards, drawers, closets, and opening box after box of Mom's packed away treasures.
