BEAUTIFUL UNCOMMON VINTAGE 'DUCTH' SHAPE ROYAL DOULTON CHAMBER STICK / CANDLE HOLDER Old English Scenes ' THE GLEANERS ' series Beautiful heavy 'Dutch' shape Series Ware chamber stick in The Gleaners series. This series was introduced in 1909, extended to 1937 and withdrawn by 1955. The chamber stick is surrounded with scenes; featuring part Scene #3, and Scenes #22, 5 & 9 on it with beautiful tree boughs gracing the spaces between and hand painted green trim on the rim, edge of the candle holder and the handle. It is likely an earlier piece since it exhibits a lot of hand applied colour over the transferwork; typically a sign of earlier Series Ware pieces. This piece is called the Dutch shape chamber stick or candle stand. The base of the piece is also fully marked with the Royal Doulton special backstamp for The Gleaners series as well as the series number D3191. This indicates that the scene was introduced in 1909. Please see photos below. The piece is stunning and uncommon. It is 6" in diameter and approx. 3" high to the top of the. It is pristine save for light clean crazing inside and out, common to this type of ware and a original factory glazing flaw [glaze miss] at the top of the handle. T are no further problems and no restoration to this beautiful piece. A rare item that always sells for a significant price when it comes up for auction. It would be a lovely addition to any Doulton Seriesware collection. This interesting piece has a reasonable reserve. Don't miss your chance to own this wonderful piece for your collection. I am selling off my long collected Royal Doulton 'The Gleaners' collection, so watch for other interesting pieces in this and in other Doulton series in the near future.
