Royal Engineers Officers Full Dress Captains Tunic Made from scarlet superfine by Hawkes, with blue velvet cuffs and collar which is also edged with regimental lace. Blue edges to tunic. Cuffs with Austrian knots. Base of collar with gilt cord. Pair of matching silvered embroidered grenade badges to collar. All KC gilt buttons. Pair of matching gilt cord epaulettes with 3 pips to denote Captain. The interior with quilted beige cloth and white lining to skirts. Chest about 38", waist about 34", sleave from shoulder to cuff about 25", to fit someone about 6’. In Generally Good Condition. Colours still very bright. Gilt cord is generally quite bright, but edges and exposed areas are a little dulled and worn possibly by being worn under an overcoat. The tunic has no moth, but there are a few dark marks – please see photos. Collar and cuffs shows that it wasn’t worn that much. PLEASE NOTE that the belt is not to this officer and are not part of this sale. An Extremely Good Displayable Tunic Please see other items that i have listed as other than the odd modern items, these items are from an old collection of helmet parts and plumes that i bought many years ago.
