Royal Haeger ART DECO GREYHOUND, WHIPPET, or BORZOI BENDING Dog figurine Unusual Aged Stone pottery look that is great for decorating! Fabulous Art Deco design sculpture with an ancient stone pottery crackle-look finish approx. 8" tall. In excellent condition with no chips cracks or breaks. Could be a greyhound, whippet or borzoi dog. This figure was designed by Royal Hickman and first introduced by Haeger Potteries in 1938 ( mold # R166). See the matching standing dog and Urn with lid that I have listed. This auction is for the BENDING DOG FIGURE ONLY. The standing dog is listed separately. I have shown a photo of the two dogs together just for reference. Founded in 1871, the prolific Dundee, Illinois ceramics manufacturer Haeger Potteries has produced just about every type of pottery imaginable. "Royal Haeger" was a line of art pottery made by Haeger Potteries, the name intended to evoke an air of royalty for the upscale designs. It is often said that the name of their ceramic designer Royal Hickman was applied to the Royal Haeger brand, but the name was actually concieved prior to Hickman's involvement. His employment with the company ceased in 1944, although a back-log of his designs, particularly lamps, were introduced into the line well into the '50s.
