Vintage Royal Haeger Shiny Black Coffee Table / Centerpiece Vase I went to the latest antiques and estate auction, and the main estate being sold included fine antique oak furniture, interesting vintage pottery and china, a few exquisite silver pieces, and an extensive vintage toy collection. This is one of the "over-the-top" pottery pieces I bought. By Royal Haeger, this probably dates to the 1950's (and it would be a great companion piece for one of Royal Haeger's famous black panthers). The wonderfully angled, super modern centerpiece dish stands on a round pedestal foot, with a rectangular bowl pulled into an elongated diamond shape. The dish is covered inside, outside, and bottom with shiny black glaze. The opening extends into the foot to hold water if you use it as a vase. This striking piece is an impressive 17-3/4" long, 7-1/2" wide, and 5-1/2" high. It's marked on the bottom with raised letters "ROYAL HAEGER, R1542." Amazingly, this bowl or vase is almost damage free. I found a small crack to the glaze, but not the pottery, under one end, and t are some edge nicks on the base. Other than that, it's shiny and in great condition. This would be stunning with an ikebana arrangement, filled with silver Christmas balls, spikey dried flowers, or just as a stand-alone art piece.
