This auction is for one Royal Kendal fine bone china tea-leaf fortune telling cup and saucer. Made in Staffordshire England in the mid 80s, this set is brand new - never used - and come with the original box and most important, the booklet with directions on how to interpret the tea leaves. The cup measures 3 inches across by 2 1/4 inches high. The saucer measures 5 1/2 inches across. The outside of the cup reads "Would'st thy fortune like to see? Perchance this cup will show it thee." The twelve signs of the zodiac with their corresponding symbols ring the saucer. Fourteen picture symbols ring the inside of the cup. In the bottom of the cup are the seven red planetary signs surrounding a seven pointed star - an emblem of good luck. The ship of hope is within the star. All of these symbols are interpreted in the Taltos Fortune Telling booklet that comes with the cup and saucer. It all depends on your birth date and the final position of your tea leaves. I bought several of these sets as gifts in a small gift store that was closing. The owner told me she only found them as they were emptying their storage areas. There is one fault with the 21 page booklet that is held together with two staples. These staples have rusted - I assume after 20 some years in the box conditions were not always ideal.
