ROYAL NAVY COMMANDER _____ This is a superb original Royal Navy Commander rank peaked uniform cap - complete with original padded gilt wire QC cap badge. Cap was originally supplied by well-known famous Naval outfitters Gieves Ltd . The cap badge itself is superb and in A1 condition. Beautifully made, the badge has a padded burgundy Queen's crown with a metal RN 'fouled anchor' below. The crown and the anchor have a gilt wire wreath surrounding this. Cap has a rigid peak which is covered in a black 'velvet' material. There is plenty of gold wire in the form of 'leaves' on the peak - this denoting the rank of Commander RN. Top of cap has a white cotton dust cover. This can be removed for laundering of course - should it become a little grubby, etc. Inside the cap is a brown leather sweatband around the rim. There is a label on the sweatband with the number 7 on it. This wouldbe the size. I have measured the cap, and it measures approx 55cms . Condition of cap is excellent. It appears to have had only minimal use. The white cotton covering is a little dusty/lightly soiled in one or two places - but this would easily be remedied with a quick cycle in the washing machine! The cap badge is in superb condition - and the gold wreath/leaves on the peak are very clean & in fine order indeed. The cap has no damage or any nasty surprises.
