Royal Navy Edwardian Bulldog Postcard "On the Knee" Mutiny 1906 Super postcard in the aftermath of the "On the Knee" Mutiny when in November 1906 around 200 stokers were ordered "On the knee" by a Lieutenant Collard. Although confined to the RN barracks at Portsmouth this was the most widely publicised breakdown in discipline in the Royal Navy before the First World War. Order was restored by armed groups from ships in the harbour and the Royal Marine Artillery. In the aftermath Collard and eleven stokers were Courts Martialled. The postcard depicts Collard as a monkey in Royal Navy uniform ordering three bulldogs.: Our defenders "On the Knee" you dogs! Postcard reverse has not been used. Good condition. Sold with no reserve.
