The Royal Philatelic Collection, by Sir John Wilson, the Keeper of the Royal Philatelic Collection and edited by Clarence Winchester. This book presents the foundation and the development of the Royal Philatelic Collection in a manner worthy of its importance and to record in catalogue form its fascinating and educational contents. The are 12 large lithographed color plates in this book, all sunk on card stock and proof like in quality, depicting mostly rarities from the collection in their issued colors as well as Edward Henry Corbould's Queen Victoria, the Britannia designs from Mauritius, the 'Chalon' head and the New South Wales Crown design. There are also a large number of illustrations in black & white. The first scan shows the book from the front, the second scan shows the spine and front cover, and the third scan shows the volume in its slipcase. The rest of the scans are of the interior pages. This book will immediately strike you as something out of the ordinary. It is very large: it is 10½" X 14½" X 3½" in size, covers are bound in oxblood Morocco Leather and the book weighs 12½ pounds. This volume was published in 1952 with the "Gracious Permission of His Majesty King George the Sixth", and all pages are on light weight card stock, with the printing and the color plates nothing short of exquisite. The book is not paginated, rather it is presented in sections, but contains about 500 pages. The Armorial binding is tight and firm, ex library with a few light rubber stamps and a bar code label on the rear pastedown, clean and bright pages throughout with a couple of minor handling marks, and it is in excellent overall condition. The original matching slip case has been repaired, and it's also included. A rare and magnificent book! Sellers: Delight buyers. Get your own map of past buyers.
