A vintage Ann Hathaway's Cottage biscuit barrel made by Royal Winton/Grimwades in England. For some reason, Royal Winton left the "e" off the end of Anne, which should be the correct spelling of her name! The Royal Winton mark is not present but the mark pictured below is consistent with the one featured on page 139 in Muriel Miller's Royal Winton Collectors Handbook. The Anne Hathaway's Cottage range was first produced in 1929 and this example is pristine. It has the original wicker handle and the only fault I can find is one flake of paint missing from a tree branch on one side. It is shiny and uncrazed with no damage or repairs of any kind. The timbers on this example are not painted dark as they are on some of the Ann Hathaway's Cottage pieces and the colors of the flowers are mostly red and blue. It is gorgeous!
