A unique find, an original private photo album showing Princess Elizabeth now the present Queen of England ,Elizabeth II and her Father King George VI and his wife Elizabeth. This unique collection shows the present Queen when she was just 18 serving as a Second Subaltern in the Womens Auxiliary Territorial Service in 1945. Elizabeth Windsor Army No. 230873 convinced her father King George VI to be allowed to contribute directly to the war effort, she was the first and only female member of the Royal Family to actually serve in the Armed Forces. Joining in 1945 as a Second Subaltern , (equivalent army rank of second lieutenant,) she trained as a driver and mechanic of a military truck, attaining when she left the rank of Junior Commander (Captain). The Womens Auxiliary Territorial Service was formed on the ninth of September 1938 and existed to the first of February 1949, the women receiving two thirds of the pay of male soldiers. The photos are in very good condition. The album which is in very good condition and measuring 11" by 8" consists of 11 photos featuring the Queen to be and several other photos of the ATS and other personal photos relating to the original owner. There are also 5 un-used and mint condition photo-postcards of members of the Royal Family, Prince Charles as a boy (by Marcus Adams), Princess Anne as a young Girl (also by Marcus Adams), Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the II (by Dorothy Wilding Valentines Cards ), His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh (also by Dorothy Wilding Valentines Cards), The Royal Wedding by Baron Photo Centre Ltd. The photos appear to be taken privately with just one bearing the back stamp of the London News Agency. The larger of the photos measure 6.5" by 8.5". A unique collection never to be seen again.
