Rare RPPC! Trolley PRR Lykens Railroad Coal Mine crossDescription:
Very cool rare Pennsylvania/Lykens Valley Railroad trolley Crossing. I did some research, as I like to learn about these cards before sending them off to "good homes." According to the Dauphin County Historical Librarian, this track is part of the Lykens & Williams Valley Street Railway and one of the two postcard photos is featured in the booklet, Little Railways of the Lykens Valley Gene D. Gordon.Condition: This card is in very good condition but you can see from the photo some white marks off to the side of the photo. It looks like a piece of tape may have been on the surface at one time. It does impact the image but wanted to mention this. Please view photos enlarged to see true conditions. The scan is very accurate.
I also found some cool websites that show maps of the Lykens Valley Railway and history of Lykens Colliery and mining in the area: /index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=165&Itemid=196/stream/lykenswilliamsva00barr/lykenswilliamsva00barr_djvu.txt This is one of the last three real photo postcards that I will be listing from a collection of Pennsylvania mining postcards I'm listing this week. Those with places identified are all; of the Lykens Valley/ Wiconisco area in Dauphin County. They appear to be circa 1909 as only a few are postmarked that year. They have been kept in plastic sleeves and are in excellent condition with crisp corners unless otherwise noted.
All of my postcards are AUTHENTIC antiques, no reproductions. They will be carefully shipped in photo sleeves. Please ask questions and view photos carefully. Thanks!!!Payment:
