ART WITH SOUL Rs Lang Stoneware Butter Keeper Thanks for viewing one of my auctions ! This auction is for a butter keeper I made that has a great looking mahogany red brown glaze. These are also called "French Butter Keepers" or "Butter Bells". I have now sent butter keepers to 47 states and have lots of satisfied customers! My butter keepers are larger than most you will find ! They hold 1 cup or 2 sticks of butter. They are easy to set upside down and serve from. They really work and are beautiful as well ! You place your butter or margarine in the deep well on the top of the jar and fill the base with enough cold water to surround the top when it's placed back on the base. It will hold 1 cup or 2 sticks of butter. The butter will stay at a nice spreading consistency without falling out and you can keep it on your counter or table. I make the top flat so you just set it upside down and use it on the table as a serving dish. Change the water every 2 - 3 days. It's nice to have butter that isn't rock hard or soft and runny ! We have used one year round and it works Summer and Winter ! This piece is thrown on my potter's wheel and high fired. Great for your studio pottery collection and very functional as well. It is in perfect new condition and measures approximately 4" tall x 4" wide. I have been a studio potter for over 30 years. I am only auctioning my gallery quality work, and not seconds or pieces with flaws. I try for very clean and elegant work. I like simple forms and subtle glazes that don't glare at you ! I sign every piece " Rs Lang", (for Richard Lang) and my signature is fired on. I formulate all of my own glazes and don't use any commercial stuff !
