This is a beautiful Slag Glass or Marbled Glass... Automobile Gearshift Knob. It looks like it would screw onto a 9/16th inch thread... and has a screw in adapter that looks like it would screw onto a ¼ inch thread. With the ¼ adapter in place the Knob screwed right onto the gearshift leaver of my 55 Studebaker. It measures almost 2" across the widest point and stands 1 3/8" high. The colors in the glass are a deep ruby red, a milky white, and wisps of egg-yolk yellow glass. It has excellent swirls in the glass and good separation between the colors. The colors don't all run together like I've seen in some of these knobs. I bought one of these about eight years ago at the Carlisle Car show... for my 49 Packard... and paid 75 dollars for it... thought it was a lot of money... but just couldn't live without it!!!... The metal parts on that one were "pot-metal" and all corroded and pitted. The metal on this one appears to be aluminum... and in perfect condition. Hey... wouldn't this look super on your "Hot-Rod"???...
