Designed by Russel Wright in the mid 1940s (production 1946 - 1967) with various redesigns during the two decades for Iroquois, this is the hard-to-find Casual four-quart covered casserole/tureen in sugar white with matching pich lid. Part of a small, wonderful group of early Casual that I am listing this week (photo #9). In excellent overall condition; t are a few underglaze specks which often occurs with the early pieces, particularly with the early white; t is also a small patch of roughness that is slightly darker than the sugar white glaze in the interior - clearly a small unglazed area underneath the indented handle depressions and paralleling them within the interior of the piece - not objectionable. Measures 8.5" diameter x 5.25" height. To illustrate the larger height, I have photographed this piece with the two-quart covered casserole (photos #5, #6, #7). This size also makes a great cookie jar as well as without its lid, a large salad bowl with ample room for tossing. Mark on underside is Iroquois Casual China by Russel Wright. Auction is for the single four-quart covered casserole/tureen in sugar white. As with all of my auctions, I am happy to combine shipping.
