RUSSIA 1898 GOLD 10 RUBLES, NGC AU-58, PORTRAIT OF 1898 Russia 1898-AG Gold 10 Rubles. First date of this type with small mintage of 200,000 coins. Graded by NGC as Choice Almost Uncirculated AU-58. Almost all the coins of 1898 found in high grades are later restrikes struck in 1920-s. They are so called "Italian head" variety with easily distinguishable smaller Nicholas II head. Those restrikes were never in real circulation struck only for international trade by young Soviet Government and kept in bank vaults. So many "Italian head" coins of 1898 and 1899 when found are not uncommon in high Uncirculated grades. Not this coin. It has original portrait of 1898 and coins with this portrait were only struck in 1898 and all were in heavy circulation during tsar Nicholas II era. Very few survived in decent grades and are very scarce today even in Choice AU not to mention any Uncirculated grades. The coin has significant luster and nice eye appeal, very scarce and desirable. Y-64. 8.6026 gram of 900 gold, 0.2489 oz AGW. Select a picture WE DO NOT ACCEPT PAYPAL FROM INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS AND WE DO NOT SEND COINS AND MEDALS SOLD ON E-BAY TO OUTSIDE OF THE UNITED STATES!
