RUSSIAN CZARIST ERA BRASS SAMOVAR
Since the listing photos were taken, the Spigot Handle, or "Key" in the photos has been lost. I have replaced it with a similar key. It looks slightly different from the one in the photos but works just as well. The polish on the replacement key is not as bright as the one in the photos. (A buyer that had previously purchased the Samovar returned it without the key). I have purchased a new one and it will be included. Stamped with Czarist Imperial Crest and dated 1903 Measures 23" High and 12" Wide, Handles and Knobs are made of wood Solid Brass with Tin Lined Kettle Interior, No Missing Parts, Includes Chimney! If you are not familiar with Russian Samovars, they are a nice and rapid way to boil water for making tea or coffee. These were generally used outdoors when heating the water. The user builds a small fire out of pine cones, grass, twigs or small sticks in the inside then adds water. They boil water rapidly and keep it hot for a very long time. This Samovar is in excellent working condition. Many of these are missing the chimneys. However, this one is complete with the Chimney and all working parts and knobs are in place. The front of the Samovar is stamped with Cyrillic letters and I don't read Russian. There are also several stamped medals with dates and portraits This samovar is from an estate sale of one of the oldest families from Portland, Oregon. This was on display in their home.
