Russian Solitaire 14ct Amethyst Earrings c. 1925Dating to ca 1920-1930 this beautiful pair of gold and amethyst earrings are a Slavic delight! T is a growing demand for period Russian-made jewelry and no one can seem to obtain enough fine Russian jewelry as each passing month rising demand for Russian jewelry increases. This gorgeous Russian pair boasts a natural 4.5ct 'lily' amethyst; these stones are paler than the 'rose-de-France' variety, but have a distinct lilac tint. These amethyst are native to the Ural Mountians of Russia and are quite unlike most amethyst one sees on the market. Each oval amethyst measures 0,47" by 0,35". The stones are perfectly matched for color, and are cut for maximum refraction and do these earrings dance under light! Each stone is held by 14 long golden claws which join the basketwork mounting. The findings measure just over 1/2 " long with their 14k gold wires. Like most earrings from the first half of the 19th century, the findings are of the "back-to-front" variety. The findings to these earrings are made with the post-Revolutionary Russian star and the number '56' indicating 14k gold. Together the earrings weigh 4,6 grans and are So comfortable on the ear! These earrings are in 100% mint condition and appear as if they have never been worn!
